Dragons Two Ways
Two completely different styles using the same stamp sets, Mama Elephant's Me and My Dragon and Dragon Wishes.
I adore Mama Elephant's dragon sets! I thought it would be fun to try these cute little guys in a couple of different styles.
First- Dragons in White and Gold
Here, I've used a Spellbinder's nesting dies to create a shaped card base, and then used the coordinating decorative dies to layer on top. I used white card stock for all of my layering pieces.
I then stamped the largest dragon from the Me and my Dragons set, quickly stamped in the rider with long hair, and embossed the images in gold tensile. I also stamped and embossed the castle in the clouds image in the same gold, and also the two small flying dragons from the Dragon Wishes set.
Since I have not purchased the dies for these sets (yet!) I fussy cut the images.
Before adhering the layers, I also embossed a couple of sentiments, one reads, "You're a Dragon, Be a Dragon" and the other, "Thank you for believing in me."
Finally, I adhered the images over the layers, using a foam adhesive for the dragon to add even more depth.
I love how these turned out! The gold really fit with the majestic theme of dragons, and the background shapes in white remind me of wispy clouds!
Second, Dragons in Lots of Color on Ink Blended Backgrounds
I love using bright colors, and distress ink backgrounds are the perfect way to start a bright and happy card!
For these cards, I also started by using the same Spellbinder's dies to make a shaped card base in white. I love this shape because it reminds me a big cloud.
Then, I ink blended the backgrounds on the front AND inside. I used Distress Oxide in Seedless Preserves on both cards, paired with Worn Lipstick on one and Shaded Lilac (my favorite!) on the other. I then sprayed both the inside and the outside with water mixed with shimmer powder. I love how these colors really seem to blend and come alive with this effect!
Next, I stamped my images in black ink and embossed using clear powder. I took out my watercolors and painted the images to coordinate with the background colors. Then, I cut everything out.
Once the card bases were dry, I stamped on the sentiments, the same as the other cards, one reading, "You're a Dragon, Be a Dragon," and the other, "Thank you for believing in me."
Finally, I adhered all of the images onto the card front, using some foam adhesive once again on the dragons and the girl to pop the up a bit.
I had a lot of fun making these! Thank you for reading!
